It is not often that Azerbaijanis are pleasantly surprised regarding the media’s reporting of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue. Yet the BBC’s recent HardTalk interview with Armenia’s Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, did just that. For the first time in memory, a key player in the mainstream media highlighted legal facts instead of just partisan conjecture concerning the unresolved Armenian–Azerbaijani conflict.

In my piece for the Brussels-based EU Reporter website, I highlight how this long-standing conflict is not stalemated, is in contravention of four outstanding UN Security Council resolutions, and extends beyond Azerbaijan’s Nagorno-Karabakh territory to seven surrounding districts also under Armenian military occupation.
